  1. Hi Ernesto! nice thoughts on the camera, I am having the same issues you mentioned with my Canon 5D Mk iii, definitely, I can't trust it anymore. I am thinking to replace it by this EOS R but I am affraid about the focusing speed and focus flexibility, as per your comments you shoot weddings and that's my main business, have you ever had any situation where you missed the MK 3 focusing or something else ? I think I am going for the EOS R.
By the way, about the MK 3 crash issue, I changed the CF card for a new one and the issue is gone apparently, however, I can't wait for the problem to show up again.
    thank you!

  2. For me the deal breaker is …..the location of the back focus button! I will wait to see what the next offering are. I am hopeful that it will be a real evolution

  3. I can see you being happy with the EOS R coming from the 5DIII. I switched to Sony a7rIII from a Canon 5DIV and I'm patiently waiting to see what Canon offers in there EOS RII, even though that may still be a year or so out. I no for myself that I wouldn't be impressed moving back from the a7rIII to the EOS R. But I would like to return to Canon someday in the future. The a7rIII is fine, I enjoy the IQ from this camera but even after a 1 1/2 years it just isn't as enjoyable experience like I had when shooting Canon. Plus two of my main lenses that I still use on the a7rIII are Canon, ( I just prefer the look). I guess I'm basically looking for a camera that combines the a7rIII sensor with a Canon body. We'll see what the future brings.

  4. I wanted it, got it and didn't look back. The initial price was a bit dismissive so i did have to wait a bit.

  5. Really interesting to hear you having the same issue with the mkIII and how the 85mm works so much better on the R making me seriously think about upgrading.

  6. Nice video (and model 🥰). I’m a DSLR guy but was excited to finally try this camera out when my friend showed up to an event with it.

I actually expected better. AFS was super great but in servo it just fell apart. Seemed like a consumers camera to me. I agree with the $1300 price point but I’d just throw it in the trash when a pro model is released, so I’m waiting until then.

And then it’s probably bye bye savings account because the focus acquisition is fast (faster than Sony IME) and that R glass has me excited. I’ll be happy and broke 🤪

  7. So Ernesto, since you've used both the Sony A7III and the Canon EOS R, if you had to choose one for both photo and video as your main camera, which would you choose?

  8. i just bought the Canon R for the xmas deal as well, and hoping it works out. I am anxious to see if it performs as expected as a routine event camera with on and off camera flash — something we rarely see among the youtuber reviews of mirrorless in general.

  9. I went all in on the R system with all the RF glass. 15-35, 35, 50, 85, 70-200. Marry the glass, date the body. The glass alone justifies getting into the R system especially at the current price point of the EOS R. The Canon bodies will catch up eventually. The sensors in the new 90D outperform what's in the Sony A6400 so we can only expect the new full frame sensors to be a big upgrade as well. People always forget that the glass is often a 10 year+ investment. New bodies come out every other year… Buy the best optics, stick with that system and thank me later 🙂

  10. Hi! 1st time viewer here! Liked your info. Dont know if it's me but the music seemed way too loud in comparison with the level of your vocals. Will be watching some more tho😁

  11. Don't be too happy.

As noted below, this has single card slot. A nightmare in making, if you shoot professionally.

  12. I agree with everything you said.. And the only reason I also picked it up was for the price of $1,299. Great price for such a great camera.

  13. Great video. I'm glad people like you actually use it to give a personal impression about the gear they have used. I think the Canon EOS R is a good camera but I hope that the people that say Sony lenses are expensive dont look at the prices of the FR mount lenses.

  14. Man!!! So glad I found your channel! Your perspective is so refreshing and is what YouTube needs! So many reviews, in my opinion, bag on a camera based on specs but very few use them! I picked EOS R the same time you did and absolutely love it. The autofocus on this camera alone makes it worth taking a look. Looking forward to watching the other videos on your channel and definitely subscribing!!!

  15. Hello, can I used my L lens on camera? Also, if it was between Canon 5D mk iv and EOS R , which one you would jump for?

  16. Hi Ernesto. I’m a Sony A7 lll owner also. I still had my Canon lenses. The Canon EOS R is a very enjoyable camera. Like yourself I’m glad I purchased it. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work.

  17. I was so tempted to get this camera (mostly because of the glass) but I just can't get past that single card slot…deal breaker for me…

  18. Mine should be here Monday. Will be a upgrade 2 my 6d. Great video as always!! Did it come with the latest firmware update?

  19. I have the RP and I am pretty happy with that. Works pretty well despite the negative reviews. Use a EF 50mm f1.2 on it and it nails focus on the eye with the updated firmware esp in servo mode. I don’t think there is that much difference between the R and RP but I think the reviews don’t do them justice. I have heard great reviews about these cameras from people who use them compared to youtube reviewers.

  20. Hmm this video premieres in 6 hours and I’m just now going to bed. Let me gone head and set this alarm right quick 😅😅😅
